Tailor Your Grant Attachments to Stand Out

March 30, 2024 by in Blog

When writing your grant application, you usually have the option to include supporting attachments and documents. It can be tempting to upload everything you have, but each attachment should serve a specific purpose. Don’t just add attachments for the sake of it or to bulk up your application.

Strengthen your proposal

Every attachment you include should strengthen your proposal in some way. For example, photos can illustrate the need or impact of your project in a vivid way that words alone cannot. A few powerful images showing real people who will benefit from your work can be incredibly compelling.

Visual to help grant assessors understand

Graphics are another excellent attachment option if relevant. Simple charts, graphs, or diagrams can efficiently communicate details about your organisational structure, proposed budget, timeline, logic model, expected outcomes, and more. Visuals allow reviewers to quickly grasp key information.

Make your grant application stand out

Attachments like letters of support from community partners, resumes of key personnel, or examples of previous work can also make your application stand out. But avoid attaching anything that doesn’t directly relate to and enhance your specific proposal.

The attachments section is prime real estate to make your grant proposal shine. Use it strategically by picking supplementary documents that highlight your project’s strengths, clarify important details, demonstrate credibility, and ultimately convince reviewers that your idea deserves funding. Focus on quality over quantity, and let each attachment play a purposeful role.
